PROGRAM :
> Kenji SAKAI / Photons
soloist : Oishi Masanori (soprano and alto saxophone)
This concert piece is written in the natural physical setting that is found in several previous pieces. The photon, a particle associated to light waves, is musically translated by the figure, the pulse. This pulse begins with the saxophone solo and gradually spreads to the ensemble whereas the different pulses played by the tutti concentrate autonomously and finally metamorphose into a light wave.
> José Manuel LOPEZ LOPEZ / Sonidos Azules (French Premiere)
soloist : Andres Gomis (bass saxophone)
The main idea of the piece is an elaboration of a polyphonic space and complex tones created by the named byphonics. These pulsing sound objects will be placed in the acoustic space both by the soloist saxophone and by the instrumental and electronic ensemble.
> Alex MINCEK / Pneuma
soloist : Ibrahim Michael (tenor saxophone)
> Nicolas TZORTZIS / My condition exempts me
soloist : Vincent Daoud (tenor saxophone)
MUSICIANS :
Proxima Centauri : Marie-Bernadette Charrier, saxophone / Christophe Havel, electroacoustic / Sylvain Millepied, flute / Clément Fauconnet, percussion / Hilomi Sakaguchi, piano

PROGRAM :
> Jummei SUZUKI / WolfieEdo
soloist : Hiroshi Hara (alto saxophone)
The particular title of the piece “WolfieEdo” comes from « Wolfie » the nickname of W.A. Mozart and « Edo » the former name for Tokyo. The name Edo is used today in « Ōedo-SEN », a Tokyo subway line that is very familiar for the population. With this piece, I try to associate two very different types of music.
> Rodrigo LIMA / Antiphonas
soloist : Pedro Bittencourt (alto saxophone)
« I assumed the reciprocity and ritualistic aspect suggested by the title of the piece as a propelling element of interactions between soloist and ensemble. Yet the dialogues are not mere answers or repetitions; they project themselves in time as a kind of echo, or distorted «antiphonal dialogue », creating a sonorous sham where points, lines and textures tend to game of construction and deconstruction of movements and sonorities ». R. Lima
> Kevin JUILLERAT / Monk 2 : Plouk
soloist : Noémie Bialobroda (viola) et Kevin Juillerat (tenor saxophone)
> Bernhard LANG / DW 24
soloist : Lars Mlekusch (alto saxophone)

>> Kevin JUILLERAT (1987, swiss)
Monk 2 : Plouk
(for alto and tenor saxophone solo, saxophone baritone, violin, double bass, horn, flute, percussion, piano, trombone, trumpet, cello)
Plouk is a musical adaptation of the collection of poems Plouk Town. This rough and grating social tragedy with its exhilarating formal rigor was written by the british autor Ian Monk. The pièce stages two feverish and inséparable soloists in a desperate fight against a brutal and oppressive instrumental ensemble. It queries the room of individual in a society which is only the shadow of its old idéals.
>> Bernhard LANG (1957, austrian)
DW 24
(for alto saxophone solo, eight instruments and electronics)
This piece is part of the series Differenz-Wiederholung that includes 30 pieces and can be considered the sister piece of DW 23 that draws an electroacoustic portrait of an artistic personality: in the case of the latter, it is Boris Karloff, in the present case it is Al Jourgensen, founder and leader of the industrial metal band Ministry.
