Biography

Here is the story of four saxophone teachers from various national music conservatoires of Aquitaine who would very much like their pupils to meet one another (as well as musicians from other parts of France). So they have imagined a project: bring together 40 young saxophone players around pieces specially written for them, with a view to playing them for SaxOpen 2015.

It will give them an a opportunity to enrich their instrument’s repertoire and make wonderful encounters with composers such as Bart Picqueur, Goeffroy Tamisier and professional performers such as Stéfano Di Battista, in Orthez (Pyrénées Atlantiques) on 5 April 2015 and eventually other teachers and artists during the Congress in Strasbourg..

More informations

These young interpreters who play soprano, alto, tenor and baritone will practice together during a three day- session in Orthez and one day in Bègles (Gironde). They will be monitored by the 4 teachers who make up CAP-Sax (Collectif Aquitain pour la Promotion du Saxophone) : Marjorie Claver, Hélène Lajus, Frédéric Laurent et Alfonso Lozano.
This project is supported by the musical ensemble” Harmonie d’Orthez” which also proposes a performance for the SaxOpen Congress. It was entered on the site in October 2014 under the name of “CAP-Sax and Harmonie d’Orthez” .
To work out their program, CAP-Sax have called on three renowned musicians:
– Geoffroy Tamisier, trompet player, composer and arranger has created two pieces for the event
– Stefano Di Battista will join us during the session in Orthez and we will attend his own concert.
For the SaxOpen Congress, the 40 young players offerto play 2 of his works : Maria Lani and Coco Chanel (these 2 pieces should be arranged for our group by Stefano Di Battista, this is still under discussion)
– Bart Picqueur, Belgian composer and conductor, has also arranged for us one of his compositions entitled “Hope
