Biography

Diego Núñez and Fernando Muslera, saxophone and piano duo, offers great pieces of argentinian music in its concerts.
One of the main objectives of these two artists is to perform original pieces of contemporary Argentinean composers for the very first time, with the commitment of promoting them. Some of these works, were specially written for the duo.
The outstanding pieces of tango and folklore have been arranged by the musicians respecting the traditional sonority of each genre. In July 2008, they have released “¡Dale Nomás!”, the very first recording of argentinian music for Saxophone and Piano.
In this case, we have the special participation of outstanding Arno Bornkamp for a trio programme.

More informations

Duo Núñez-Muslera, formed by saxophonist Diego Núñez and pianist Fernando Muslera, with the special participation of great Arno Bornkamp, offer in this opportunity a programm of argentinian pieces for this formation:
– “La Entreverada” Aire de chacarera. Composer: Fernando Muslera.
For soprano and tenor saxophones and piano.
This piece is based on folk rhythm “chacarera”, a traditional dance from the centre of the country, with a musical language that combines modal-tonal harmonies, and contemporary effects and sonorities.
– “Onda 9” Astor Piazzolla, Arranger: Fernando Muslera
For soprano and alto saxophones and piano
From Astor Piazzolla and his “Conjunto 9”, this piece belongs to a short experiment in 1971-1972 where Astor recorded a double LP called “Contemporary popular music from Buenos Aires”. This piece has a traditional form with ritornello, going from a very rhythmical part to another improvised and evocative. Saxophones and piano work together perfectly in these atmospheres.
– “La Cumparsita” Gerardo Matos Rodríguez, Arranger: Fernando Muslera
For soprano and alto saxophone and piano.
La Cumparsita is the most interpreted and well-known tango. Its origin is not very clear but it dates from 1916. This arrangement is based on the Leopoldo Federico and Anibal Troilo versions, adapting the resources of the traditional tango to the saxophone writing. The final variation is taken from Luis Moresco (1925) version, treated in canonic form.
