Biography

Projekt 046 starts from the friendship between the two components of the duo, the Norwegian Anja Nedremo and the Catalan Oriol Parés.
These two young saxophonists first met at the Royal Academy of Music of Denmark (Aarhus), and decide to create this project to expand the range of possibilities that they have already previously developed both as soloists and chamber musicians.
The main objective of the group is to introduce and further develop the repertoire for saxophone duo.

At the same time they enjoy working with both well-known composers and promising young talents, and they work to further expand the saxophone repertoire, not only for the duo formation, but also works for solo and interdisciplinary chamber music.

More informations

OYÁ was a work commissioned in 2011 by Claus Olesen and Kasper Hemmer Pihl –teachers of Anja and Oriol– with funds provided by the Danish Statens Kunstfond. Unfortunately, this music piece was never played due to several technical difficulties.

Later on, in November 2014, professor Claus Olesen, after seeing the potential of Anja and Oriol in the first concerts –both as a duo and within several interdisciplinary projects—firmly encourages Projekt 046 to go on with the work OYÁ.

Within the framework of the World Saxophone Congress and Festival (SaxOpen) in Strasboug (France) next July, Projekt 046 thinks it is a great opportunity to link the premiere of this advanced piece with this major event.

The group, from the Royal Academy of Music of Denmark (Aarhus), is determined, since the very beginning, to emphasize the Scandinavian classical music. In every performance so far, they have played several pieces from these European northern countries. Therefore, they continue the work previously done by their instructors and various Scandinavian musicians to broaden, complement and disseminate the saxophone repertoire.
