The Sugar Bear Saxophone Quartet wants to represent the uniqueness of Thailand. They will perform music from three composers from different origins : D. Maslanka, V. Potavanich and A. Piazzolla.
Biography
Sugar Bear Saxophone Quartet (SBSQ) was found by saxophone students from renowned universities in Thailand and France, consist of, Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University, Mahidol University and Conservatoire a Rayonnement Regional de Paris (CRR de Paris). All members are professional musicians and saxophone instructors working in Thailand.
SBSQ won the 1st prize from 7th Yokohama International Music Competition 2013. In the same year they received the highest score during the regional audition in Thailand for the Osaka International Music Competition 2013. Recently in 2014, they participated in the event ‘ 7e Concours International de Saxophone Nantes 2014 ‘ in France and returned to their homeland with the 2nd prize, Jul 2014 Recital-Gala Concert at Singapore saxophone Symposium.

The Sugar Bear Saxophone Quartet (SBSQ) is looking to offer the uniqueness of Thailand by presenting a solo sax quartet in the style of acetate.
For this project, SBSQ is willing to convey the attractiveness of music through a saxophone quartet from three nationalities; the songs are included ,
Recitation Book V by David Maslanka (America),
Deep Impression by Vanich Potavanich (Thailand),
Tango tantabile by Astor Piazzolla (Argentina).
Especially the ‘Deep Impression’ song, Thai folk song is presented through its melody. The composer of ‘Deep Impression’, adapted ‘Lao Somdej’ song in his composition which is lead to distribute audiences the Thai uniqueness, SBBQ has been focused.
