Biography

Claudio Gabriele, composer, pianist, organist, conductor, was born in Rome, studied in Italy “S. Cecilia” Conservatory, France I.R.C.A.M., CRR Strasbourg, and the United States: New York University. He completed his training with today’s great composers: Ivan Fedele, Georges Aperghis, Brian Ferneyhough, Jacques Rebotier, Magnus Lindberg, Klaus Huber, Toshio Hosokawa, Jonathan Harvey. Claudio Gabriele teaches Composition and Computer Music at the State Conservatory of Benevento, Italy, where he is the Director of the Composition Department. He also collaborates as composer with: New York University, Vanderbilt University, Hartford University, Boston Conservatory, Longy School of Music, University of Montpellier and Strasbourg, Conservatories of Paris, Strasbourg, Nîmes, Aix-en.Prov.

Using the results of his research group from University of Brussels, Koen Dries will illustrate the principles of respiratory muscle training and the possible effects on the sound.

 

Biography

Koen Dries (1986) is a saxophone player, teacher, conductor and researcher that is currently pursuing a Phd in arts at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels (KCB) and the University of Brussels (VUB). As a researcher, Koen focuses on developing new approaches to common musical problems in cooperation with scientists. As a solist Koen appeared with symphony orchestras, wind bands and chamber ensembles in works of Ibert, Debussy, Jolas, Boutry, Maurice, … He was a prize winner at several national and international competitions (Competition for young Saxophone Players – Dinant, Axion Classics, Concours Européenne de Musique de Picardie – Amiens, …). As a teacher, Koen is currently assistant professor of saxophone at the Royal Conservatory of Brussel.

How a saxophone made of bits-and-pitcher becomes a subtle tool which brings lives change? This is the experience evidenced by Thomas Lecourt, assistant director of the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, Paraguay.
